1. Donations
Donations to The Nautical Nerds Inc. are voluntary and help support our charitable purpose of protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
Donations may support environmental restoration, research, monitoring, education, community engagement and other activities that further our charitable purposes.
The Nautical Nerds Inc. retains control and discretion over how donated funds are applied in furtherance of its charitable purposes.
2. Online Donations and GiveNow
Online donations to The Nautical Nerds Inc. are processed through GiveNow, including one-off and recurring donations.
GiveNow processes online payments and issues donation receipts for donations made through its platform.
Before confirming a donation, donors should check that the donation amount, frequency and other details are correct.
3. Tax Deductibility
The Nautical Nerds Inc. is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).
Eligible gifts to The Nautical Nerds Inc. may be tax deductible under Australian taxation law.
Not every payment or form of support will necessarily qualify as a tax-deductible gift. For example, sponsorships, services or arrangements where the supporter receives a material benefit may not qualify as gifts.
Donors should retain their donation receipt and obtain their own taxation or financial advice where required.
4. Accidental or Incorrect Donations
If you believe you have:
- made a donation accidentally;
- donated the wrong amount;
- made a duplicate donation; or
- entered incorrect donation details,
please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
We will review the circumstances and consider whether a refund is appropriate.
Refunds are not automatic or guaranteed. Refund requests will be considered reasonably having regard to the circumstances, applicable law and GiveNow’s payment and refund processes.
5. Requesting a Refund
To request a review of a donation, email contact@thethenauticalnerds.org and provide, where available:
- your name;
- the email address used when making the donation;
- the date of the donation;
- the donation amount;
- the GiveNow donation or transaction reference; and
- a brief explanation of why you are requesting a refund.
Please do not send credit card numbers, bank account passwords, PINs or other banking security information by email.
Depending on the payment method and whether the donated funds have already been transferred to The Nautical Nerds Inc., a refund may be processed through GiveNow or by The Nautical Nerds Inc. in accordance with the applicable process.
6. Recurring Donations
Recurring donations made through GiveNow can be managed through the donor’s MyGiving account.
Donors can use MyGiving to change relevant details of a recurring donation or cancel future recurring donations.
If you are unable to manage or cancel a recurring donation through GiveNow, please contact us at contact@thethenauticalnerds.org and we will assist where reasonably possible.
Cancelling a recurring donation does not necessarily reverse a payment that has already been processed or is already being processed.
7. Donation Receipts and Refunds
GiveNow issues donation receipts for confirmed donations made through its platform.
If a donation is refunded, any donation receipt relating to the refunded amount may need to be cancelled, withdrawn or otherwise treated as no longer valid.
A donor should not rely on a receipt for an amount that has been refunded.
8. Privacy
Personal information collected in connection with donations and refund requests is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Information provided directly to GiveNow is also subject to GiveNow’s own privacy practices and terms.
